THE LIVING FRACTURE
Fracture-Scaping begins with naturally found wood fractures. I read their ridges, recesses and planes as fields of landscape possibility, using chromatic interpretation to reveal rather than design the composition. The fracture remains the governing form and a participant in authorship.
PRESERVED FORM, PAINTED INTERPRETATION
Interpretation remains confined to naturally fractured surfaces. Unaffected exterior wood and bark are preserved, and expressive fracture geometry is not mechanically reshaped. Minimal preparation is permitted only on the horizontal base plane when required for stable presentation.
PROVENANCE AND STEWARDSHIP
The practice preserves each work’s available connection to its source, while By Nature works require documented geographic provenance and chain of custody.

CATALOGUE NOTE
Sandstone Spires was selected from the same gifted private stock as Snow-Capped Expanse. Its narrow, jagged projections suggested a more remote and unfamiliar terrain, extending the emerging practice beyond the alpine forms recognized in the founding work.
As the second completed Fracture-Scape, it marked a transition from initial discovery toward a more deliberate evaluation of composition and finish. The work prompted greater attention to how colour, material restraint and the existing fracture geometry could operate as a coherent whole.
After completion, Sandstone Spires was gifted to the friend who originally provided the material. It is currently the only Genesis work held outside the studio archive, although it may be temporarily reunited with the collection for documentation, study or exhibition.

DOCUMENTATION
The material was acquired from existing private stock before the current field-documentation protocol was established. Its precise harvest date, source location and fracture event remain undocumented. The available images record the work during its early studio development and are not in-situ recovery photographs.
